Book Designer is a free suite of tools designed to help you create electronic books in and from different formats. Therefore, it can be seen as both an e-book designer and an e-book converter. Together with the best known text formats (such as TXT, DOC, RTF, HTML, etc.), this application can create and convert e-books from and in Rocket, MS Reader, PalmDOC and eReader, Hiebook, FictionBook, MobiPocket, and more.

Book Designer’s bundle includes two other main tools - BookBrowser and FileConverter. The former is basically an Internet browser that will help you to find and download e-books for your collection. The latter is a straightforward text converter that allows you to convert the original characters set into Win1251, and to transform DOC, RTF, and HTML files into plain text documents.

One of the main assets of this application is that the e-books created comply with some of the most widely used existing e-book standards. Alternatively, you can also Book Designer’s own proprietary format, HTML0, which you can only open and read using this program. The main interface offers you two view modes – reading/converting mode, and editing mode. Using the latter you can use Book Designer as a conventional text editor, allowing you to change fonts and colors, align text, insert images, add and edit bookmarks, etc.

Together with the main tools available in this suite, you can also enjoy some other smaller utilities, such as Book Corrector, Citation Editor, or the possibility of joining e-books, and formatting the main book elements. Whether you own of one of the readers supported, or a user of e-books in standard text formats, Book Designer is a comprehensive free application that will certainly cover all your needs.
